Summer is right around the corner, which means it’s time to cast a vote for the best beaches in the state. Polls are open until June 9; vote online at njseagrant.org/njfavoritebeach.
This year, said representatives from New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium, which organizes the poll, “Fans get to choose their favorite local ‘hotspots’ from a list of several popular beaches throughout four coastal counties – Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean. NJSGC will announce the overall favorite beach later this summer,” at a press conference held just before July 4.
Each winning beach will receive a plaque – and bragging rights.
For Long Beach Island, participants can select Barnegat Light, Beach Haven, Harvey Cedars, Ship Bottom, Surf City or Brant Beach, a section of Long Beach Township, in the poll.
NJSGC began the Favorite New Jersey Beach project in 2008 to encourage stewardship and pride in the state’s most beloved shore towns – and to create a little friendly competition between them – and the survey has become a pre-summer occasion for residents and visitors alike.
