The Surf City Volunteer Fire Co. Women’s Auxiliary will be doing the Texas two-step and other dances at a benefit at the firehouse Friday, April 7. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and beginner lessons start at 6:30.
Tickets are $10 at the door, $8 in advance. Checks are to be made payable to the auxiliary and can be mailed to the firehouse to the attention of auxiliary president Sandy Mannherz, 713 Long Beach Blvd., Surf City, N.J. 08008.
Cathleen Engelsen, one of the event coordinators, said line dance coaches are Lisa Fennell and Billy Snyder of BTK Entertainment. She said there will be free coffee and tea, and hot dogs, soda, water, snacks and cakes are available for purchase. People are also welcome to bring their own beer or wine.
“This our third year of doing our line dance benefit,” said Engelsen. “The coaches teach individual and group line dancing. It’s a big night of fun.”
She said proceeds benefit miscellaneous fire company expenses.
“The company is looking to make improvements to the kitchen, which can help us with our pancake breakfasts,” she said.
