Replenishment repair work on previously restored beaches in a southern stretch of Long Beach Township is underway, while operations in the township’s northern Loveladies section were scheduled to finish on Tuesday night. Earlier that day, contractor Great Lakes Dock and Dredge Co.’s Liberty Island dredge was on the job near Kentucky Avenue in Beach Haven Park, while the dredges Dodge Island and Padre Island worked to complete the last segment of Loveladies.
Along with just-completed construction in North Beach, also part of the township, and a few streets in Surf City and Harvey Cedars, the work in Loveladies is the final component of the most recent storm damage reduction project contract. (Dune grass, fencing and crossovers will be added later.)
It was, however, determined that Ship Bottom and parts of Long Beach Township required additional sand due to erosion in these areas last fall and winter.
